Welcome To

Swallowdale Primary School

We are a large, welcoming primary school, with an excellent learning environment and facilities, together with a hardworking and inspirational teaching and support staff. Swallowdale has an excellent reputation and the school is fully subscribed. We have a strong school ethos. We seek to inspire and support every child to be independent and self-motivated learners, with high aspirations, so that they may achieve their full potential. Swallowdale Primary School is located in a residential area to the south of the market town of Melton Mowbray, Leics. It was originally built in 1973, but has more recent additions and has recently undergone extensive refurbishment. The catchment area includes a variety of residential estates including both private housing and council properties and farmland begins just a few hundred metres away.

Swallowdale is one of the larger primary schools in the county. Children are admitted at the age of four according to LEA admission arrangements.

The school enjoys a particularly good reputation for its work in the spheres of ICT, Sport, Assessment and Early Years Foundation Stage provision. We enrich the curriculum by day and residential trips, together with extra curricular activities, which at different times of the year include, netball, football, cross country, tag rugby, art, singing (Young Voices), gardening and ballroom dancing.

Swallowdale is a happy and vibrant school with good attendance, good behaviour and good attainment.

About Us

We are very proud of our school and our strong emphasis on partnership between children, teachers, parents and governors. We believe that Swallowdale’s strengths come from:-

Our caring ethos: The organisation of the school and the environment created by the staff are intended to help every child feel secure and happy. We believe this is conducive to the very highest levels of personal progress and success.

Our high standards: We strive to achieve the highest possible standards of performance and progression for all children, including extending the most able and supporting and stimulating the least able.

Our size (around 340 children) means that we can provide all the facilities and equipment necessary to present the national curriculum effectively. The balance of children and staff, helps us to give personal attention to every child.

Our teaching areas are well decorated and provide a light and attractive setting for learning. Inside there are specialist areas, two multi-purpose halls and well-resourced libraries. Outside, we have extensive grounds for sport and play, and an exciting garden and pond area.

We are part of the Bradgate Education Partnership

It was formed in collaboration with 11 local schools in Leicestershire who applied for MAT status to the Secretary of State for Education as a Multi Academy Trust in September 2016.The Trust currently has 15 schools in total, including two secondary schools.

They are committed to developing the local educational landscape within our primary and secondary schools through our unique autonomous model. They firmly believe that through collaboration and supportive challenge we can continue to support and develop further our academy Head Teachers and our Local Governing Bodies (LGB) to manage their own academies through our unique model.

They are also registered as an academy sponsor for other schools or academies who may approach them and they aim to help them to improve their standards and performance through our supportive model of leadership and school improvement. They fully expect all schools and academies to give their expertise as well as take support from the Trust, as and when required.

OUR MISSION
